FAQ
Does this upload my tileset anywhere?
No. The file is read locally and cut with a canvas in this tab. Check the network panel — zero uploads.
What exactly do the TMX / TSX / JSON / CSV files contain?
The same grid description: image size, tile size, margin, spacing, columns, tile count, and the filename of every tile in reading order. The TMX is a minimal orthogonal map using all tiles; the TSX is the matching Tiled tileset.
Filename note: the TMX/TSX <image source> points at PREFIX.png (your Prefix field) — rename your tileset image to match, or edit the source path, before opening in Tiled.
What do I do after splitting — how do the tiles get into my engine?
Open the TSX/TMX in Tiled then import to Godot 4 with Nearest filtering (8-minute recipe), or if the sheet was bought for RPG Maker follow the MZ/MV import recipe (sort 16/32/48px, exact 768×576 autotiles, Database import).
Why not just buy a tile-map editor?
Hexxmap ($23.99) is hex-only, map tools don’t split tilesets, and pytmx is a code library (LGPL) with no GUI. This page splits + converts in one step, free, with nothing to install.
Who owns my tileset?
You do. This page keeps no copy and claims no rights; only files you select are touched, on your device only.
